I'm on a journey to read through the Bible in chronological order. Taking it one day at a time, I will read based on a list I found on the internet and blog about what happened, thoughts provoked, emotions conjured, etc. Enjoy!

Isaiah 37-39; Psalm 76

Hezekiah is afraid for what will become of his people. He fears attack and goes into mourning mode. His official remind him that God is on their side and that he should pray about it. After hearing official word that the Assyrians are planning an attack, he goes to the Temple and lays it all out for God. God promises that there will be no attack, and send an angel to kill most of the army. They are so scared at what happened, they disperse and forget their plans.

Hezekiah becomes ill and learns he is near death. He prays for reprieve and God grants him 15 more years... I sure wish it was that easy for everyone now-a-days but God knows who should go when they go...Babylonians come bearing gifts for the sick king and Hezekiah gives them a grand tour. After learning this, Isaiah tells him that this was not a good idea... now his enemies know what amazing things he owns and that one day it will all be carried off by bandits. So much for showing your guests hospitality! Can you imagine having guests over, letting them tour your house and the entire time they were casing the joint for goods?? Crazy, but I guess thats what a king gets!

A closing note from Psalm:

11 Make vows to the LORD your God and fulfill them;
let all the neighboring lands
bring gifts to the One to be feared.
12 He breaks the spirit of rulers;
he is feared by the kings of the earth.
