I'm on a journey to read through the Bible in chronological order. Taking it one day at a time, I will read based on a list I found on the internet and blog about what happened, thoughts provoked, emotions conjured, etc. Enjoy!

Day 179: 2 Kings 5-8

Wow its been a long time. A lot has been going on at work and home and has left me gasping for air! Hopefully I will feel caught up soon.

Elisha cures Naaman from leprosy (among his may talents and wonders performed via God's power). When Naaman comes to Elisha to be healed, Elisha tells him to bath in the Jordan 7 times and he will be healed... Naaman balks at this request, expecting Elisha to wave his hands like magic wand, utter an incantation and heal him. But his friends talk sense into him and he bathes in the Jordan... lo and behold--his skin is good as new. It is a simple reminder of how stubborn we can be sometimes. God asks very little of us--faith--and yet we balk and expect Him to give so much and for us to do nothing in return.

Next, Elisha makes an axhead float so a man who dropped it accidentally in a river can continue to work (defying gravity btw), blinds an entire army with a single prayer, predicts the end of a famine and predicts the overthrow of a king.

I am in just utter amazement at the power given to Elisha...

  1. We can be so sturbborn! Reading this I am just amazed at how in my own life I expect so much and give so little. God has given us new life, eternity, in Jesus Christ...is there really more to ask for?
Keep up the hard work! It will pay off to have the Bible rooted in your heart and knowing how each scripture ties in with each other. Love you and am excited for all the stuff going on in your life! DOn't get stressed:)
