I'm on a journey to read through the Bible in chronological order. Taking it one day at a time, I will read based on a list I found on the internet and blog about what happened, thoughts provoked, emotions conjured, etc. Enjoy!

Day 176: 2 Chronicles 19-23

Jehoshaphat tears down idols and appoints Godly judges to help his people. When a nearby land threatens war, he consults with God to ask for wisdom. God tells them to go and stand against the army--they will not even have to fight. Meanwhile, God sends an ambush and all of the enemies are killed. When Jehoshaphat and his people go to fight, all they see are dead bodies. The took the plunder from and enemies; there was so much it took 3 days.

It amazed me that these people just up and decide "I think I'm going to kill these people" and just go to war... but God protects His people :)

Jehoram comes next and isn't much better than Ahab. He's so evil that tribes start breaking off and making their own kings. He killed his own brothers to keep them from over throwing him and married a daughter of Ahab. God gave him what he deserved though... he came down with an "incurable disease of the bowels" that got so bad, his bowels eventually just fell out and he died. What a terrible way to go.

Ahaziah comes next and is again an evil one. God brings his downfall, but he has a seriously wicked mother who goes crazy and takes over the land. She killed all the princes, some of them her own grandchildren! But one was hidden for 6 years while she ruled the land. In the 7th year, the followers of Judah stage a coup and overthrow her reign by crowning Joash (the hidden child) as king. The devil woman is killed, shrines are torn down, and all is right with the world...

For now...
