I'm on a journey to read through the Bible in chronological order. Taking it one day at a time, I will read based on a list I found on the internet and blog about what happened, thoughts provoked, emotions conjured, etc. Enjoy!

Day 151: Proverbs 1-3

Since Solomon was so wise, he wrote a little book called Proverbs... For Solomon, wisdom was everything. It led to a deeper understanding of who God is, how we should behave, think and view the world. He wants to remind us to keep ourselves in check. We do not know everything and we are not God! We should be looking outside of ourselves and upward, accepting discipline with humility and understanding. Earthly pleasures and temptations may be great, but they are only a temporary fix. We should guard ourselves with wisdom to know when we are being tempted, and when to say no. Wisdom gives us roots; makes it so that we are not easily swayed when something new and enticing comes along.
