I'm on a journey to read through the Bible in chronological order. Taking it one day at a time, I will read based on a list I found on the internet and blog about what happened, thoughts provoked, emotions conjured, etc. Enjoy!

Day 130: 2 Samuel 11-12; 1 Chronicles 20

The Golden child finally falls... During all this fighting with the Ammonites, David takes a load off on top of his roof. He glances down, sees Bathsheba, brings her in and sleeps with her--all the while knowing she is married. Naughty naughty!! Bathsheba realizes she's preggers, so David brings her husband (Uriah) home from battle, hoping he will sleep with her and cover up her infidelity. David realizes that Uriah is not going home at night because he doesn't think its fair that they other men are away from their families and he should be able to come home. David even tries to get him drunk to no avail---Uriah won't sleep with his wife. Talk about a stand-up guy, a man's man. Uriah has some pretty good character and solidarity with his fellow soldiers. David gives up and has Uriah sent back into battle on the front lines--he's killed, David takes Bathsheba as his wife.

God brings Nathan to David to rebuke him... God is not going to make this easy on him. Bathsheba and David's son becomes ill and dies. God shows mercy and allows them to have another son--Solomon who is later named Jedidiah which means "loved by the Lord".

David's life goes back to normal. At least for now :)
