I'm on a journey to read through the Bible in chronological order. Taking it one day at a time, I will read based on a list I found on the internet and blog about what happened, thoughts provoked, emotions conjured, etc. Enjoy!

Day 116: Psalms 73, 77-78

Psalm 73 speaks to every Christian who has ever dabbled with sin=everyone. A righteous man is venting about how he watched the ungodly and how carefree they seem to live. They are free from laws and amass wealth, do whatever they please and take from life what they want. He wonders if he has been living in vain and doing wrong by not enjoying these things. He is confused--until he remembers God and remembers what future lies ahead for the wicked. The wicked are easily washed away, but he will be upheld by God because of his faithfulness. It's an amazing reminder that once we lose focus on God, we begin to wander into the things of this world. It only takes a moment in His presence to being us right back to our senses!

The rest is singing praises to God and asking to not be forgotten; recalling His faithfulness to the Israelites in the desert, despite their wickedness. It's a great comfort to know that I am just as evil in my heart as the Israelites--if He still loved and took care of them, how much more will He then look after me?
