I'm on a journey to read through the Bible in chronological order. Taking it one day at a time, I will read based on a list I found on the internet and blog about what happened, thoughts provoked, emotions conjured, etc. Enjoy!

Day fifty-five: Numbers 3-4

Previously, all of the Israelites were counted in a census. Now, God is calling for a separate count of just the Levites because He has claimed them as His people. The families are listed, each with the responsibility they have been given at the Tabernacle. The care of the sanctuary itself was a job reserved for Moses, Aaron and his sons.

The Kohathites are put in charge of carrying the holy things. Once Aaron and his sons cover the holy items so that they cannot be seen, the Kohathites carry them to the next place. They are told strictly to not look at any of the holy things or they will die on sight.

The Gershonites are put in charge of carrying all of the curtains.

The Merarites are to carry all of the bases, posts and frames.

I'm enjoying seeing how God doles out these tasks to everyone. He has reserved this amazing responsibility simply because Moses trusted and followed Him when everyone else was losing their minds to sin.
